Non-mac user, just a fan!:)

What if i was not a mac user, but was just an uber fan of the mac system and all that comes with it, will I be an outcast in this site?

I've been a mac fan since my 1st year in college (2004), but then again I hesistated from getting the system due to practical reasons: 1.) I was so used to the WINDOWS system that giving it up will just make me handicap, 2.) software availability, since the computers at home were all WINDOWS based I'll be all alone acquiring software, and 3.) People say it isn't as user-friendly as mac users say it is.

Don't get me wrong. These are just the reasons that I keep telling myself just to console whatever feeling of grief or regret I may have for not buying a Mac.

Anyway, I am still a fan and will forever be a fan. I just have to find a way to get my own MAC. Umm... maybe extortion might work... hmm... graduation gift from mom next year?! Haha!

Hello, cokieanbochi

Like you, I was a Windows slave for years, heavily since Windows3.11
Please bear in mind that since Apple's migration to Intel (the Intel-Macs), using a Mac is so much easier than Windows to learn and use.
Don't forget, too, that you can still run Windows on an Apple system if you need to.
Yeah, a grad gift is so much more valuable. It should be a good incentive, don't you think?

During the time I purchased my laptop, Mac didn't have that capability yet, so I was forced to really stick with Windows. Buhuhu...

I'll just try to convince my mom some time next, next year. Maybe she'd concede to the idea of buying me one, or if all else fails, I might just really wait till I earn enough to buy it myself. It probably would be a totally different case if I buy it with my own money.

I never actually had a chance at actually "experiencing" a MAC, but is content with just watching people do their thing with their Macs. I just don't know how long I'll be content with just watching. Haha!

How I wish fairy godmothers exist.:P

Pardon the harshness, but I have to violently disagree with this one. Like you I am a PC user for years. I still use Windows cause of work. While using both sytems, it just reminds me of how much OS X makes it so easier to use. You should spend a whole day with a Mac.

That's my point exactly. I have to indulge myself with a MAC to actually confirm if indeed what some people say are true. Then again I love learning new technology, so hard or not, I'd love to fiddle with a MAC.

I actually started considering every new hardware that I buy. I made sure that the printer I bought for school is MAC compatible, even my phone is MAC compatible... Haha! Isn't that just so pyscho? I know right? I'm actually obsessed with the MAC, but since, I can't really give in to my obsession. I'll just have to sleep at night telling myself, "why didn't you just go for a MAC? WHY?!"

There are people who are buying MacBooks now just to run Windows on it! Shocking!

However, I've realized that this is not such a bad deal. Sooner or later those people would become curious enough to try to explore OS X. Sure, OS X can become confusing especially if you grew up with Windows but think of it this way: there is NO OTHER desk/laptop that can offer the capability of running several operating systems.

Mine used to have Boot Camp but I opted to uninstall it because I've narrowed down my Windows usage to two apps: our grading software at school and Sony CONNECT for the Sony Reader. I have freed a lot of disk space because I don't have Boot Camp anymore. Now, I just use Parallels Desktop.

I had the illusion that buying PCs is the cheaper alternative. However, if I factor in the upgrades, time spent updating anti-anything apps, and uptime, the Mac wins hands down. Always. I shudder to think how much I've already spent on my PCs. Let's just say that if I held on to my money, I could have gotten a quad-core and 30" cinema display by now.

Good luck on your decisions, cokieanbochi. Welcome to Pinoymac!

Hi, Cokieanbochi welcome to Pinoymac!

since you are looking for a chance to try out a mac, why don't you go to the nearest apple store and try out one of their macs on display. that way you can get a hands on one of those beauties. Hope it would help you to really access the ease-of-use of the Mac OS X.

I have a friend who actually bought a Macbook to run his Windows. He got his Macbook about 6 monhts ago. until now, he has not installed his windows into his macbook... wonder why???? hehehehe. why buy a macbook then? according to him, he compared the PC laptop & the Macbook and with the specs alone (excluding the OS) the Macbook is a lot cheaper than any PC laptop with the same configuration. that was the reason he opted for Macbook. My two cents...

I attempted to do that, but the people in the APPLE store just stare at you. The stare has the "If you aren't buying please leave that unit be..." attitude.

Anyway, I'd probably just ask a friend of mine to bring her mac in and ask if I can fiddle with it. Haha! Although, no one has agreed to actually letting me do that and most of my friends have PC laptops. Haay... Sad.

As soon as I get that funding to buy one, I'll sure give it a go. My mom was almost at the vurge of letting me buy a new one, but then again something happened. Then again, she took back her go signal, which is much sad-er. Buhuhu...:'(
