Bayantel DSL problem

Hi!

I am using Mac OS 9.2.2.

I'm having a problem with my bayantel DSL account. Using Outlook Express, I can receive emails but I cannot send. Rather, I can only send to Bayantel email addresses like the tech support but I tried to send to my yahoo address or to my macmail address and I get this:

Error

Mail could not be sent to account "The Bunags".

Explanation

<gbpogi@yahoo.com>: Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied

Error 5554

The Bayantel Tech support guys said they simulated my account and they do not experience the problem. This has been going on for 5 days already and I am getting frustrated.

What do you guys suggest?

HI geebee, does this happen only in outlook express? Can you test it on another email client? Also, any changes to the system in the past week? Maybe your IP address block is being blocked for sending emails?

Since it's an email sending problem, please double check that the SMTP server in Outlook Express is the same SMTP server that's used by BayanTel.

Thank you for all your replies. I've tried this Outlook Express 5.02, Outlook Express 5.06 and Entourage. I've already made sure that the SMTP address is correct and we've even tried an IP address. Nothing works.

I've already informed Bayantel that it seems that my IP address is being blocked by their server. But according to their techs, they did a simulation and they had no problems. (How helpful).

So I'm stumped and I am sick and tired of calling Bayantel Tech support. For one thing, it is difficult to find somebody there who is not following a script.

Let's assume for the moment that your IP address is being blocked by your ISP's server. Wouldn't turning off your DSL modem for around five minutes be enough for the DHCP assigned IP address to be reset, hence giving you a new one that's not blocked?

What's your sender email address domain? They might be blocking that... not your specific IP address. They might be allowing sender addresses only of the form @skyinet.net.

Suggestion: set up your own smtp server

http://fink.sourceforge.net/pdb/pack...ostfix-release

This way you can bypass the relay host that keeps on denying you access.
